Heidenheim Football Club has officially confirmed the signing of versatile attacking player Marcel Kosterly. The 30-year-old has transferred from Ingolstadt and signed a contract with the club until June 30, 2029.
Club executive Holger Sanwald stated, "We are delighted to have signed Marcel Costley. He delivered an impressive performance last season with 18 goals and 10 assists, demonstrating excellent form. Furthermore, he possesses remarkable versatility, capable of playing as a right winger, center forward, and second striker, which will significantly strengthen our squad. Beyond his outstanding attacking statistics, he also possesses a highly professional attitude and strong physical attributes, all of which are significant advantages."
Marcel Kosterly was born in Achim, Lower Saxony, Germany, and initially developed through youth academies in Schwitzen, Rothenburg, Hesse, and Verden. In 2014, he joined Mainz 05 reserve team, officially entering a higher level of professional football development.
He subsequently played for Magdeburg and Mannheim before joining Ingolstadt in the summer of 2022. Originally a right-back, he was moved to a more attacking position last season and quickly demonstrated consistent attacking output. In 42 appearances across all competitions, he contributed 20 goals and 10 assists, a truly outstanding performance.
In addition, Marcel Costelli has a wealth of experience in lower leagues, having made 28 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga, contributing 1 goal and 2 assists, and in the 3. Liga, he made a total of 295 appearances, scoring 38 goals and providing 55 assists, and also participated in 7 German Cup matches.
Speaking about joining Heidenheim, Marcel Kosterly said, "My communication with Frank Schmidt was motivating from the very first second, so I made the decision to join quickly. Heidenheim has built a very good reputation in German professional football in recent years, emphasizing a pragmatic work style and teamwork, which is completely consistent with my playing style. I am very much looking forward to the new challenge, and from the very first training session, I will give my all to help the team succeed in the 2. Bundesliga."
