Al-Shabab completes contract extension with former Atlético Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco..

Al-Shabab announced on Tuesday via their official X (Twitter) account that they have extended the contract of its captain, former Atlético Madrid Belgium international winger Yannick Carrasco.

According to Al-Shabab's official statement, Carrasco has signed on a new short-term one-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027.

About Yannick Carrasco

The 32-year-old Carrasco was born on September 4, 1993, in Vilevoorde, Belgium. He is 1.81 meters tall and primarily plays as a left winger, but can also play as a right winger or left wing-back. He holds Belgian, Spanish, and Portuguese citizenship.

Carrasco joined Genk's youth academy in 2005 and Monaco's youth academy in 2010, before completing his Monaco first-team debut in July 2012.

During his three-year spell with Les Monégasques, Carrasco won the Ligue 2 title once.

In July 2015, Carrasco joined Atlético Madrid for €20 million.

During his three-year spell at Atléti, Carrasco helped the team reach the UEFA Champions League final once, and his outstanding performances attracted persistent rumoured interest from Manchester United.

In late February 2018, Carrasco joined Dalian Pro for €30 million.

In late January 2020, Carrasco returned to Atlético Madrid on-loan, with his ownership rights being permanently bought out in August of the same year.

During his second stint with Los Colchoneros, Carrasco won the La Liga title once.

On the 2023 summer transfer window deadline day, Carrasco joined Al-Shabab for €15 million.

Since joining Al-Shabab, Carrasco has so far made 77 appearances for the Saudi Pro League powerhouse in all competitions, scoring 33 goals and providing 22 assists, and has helped the team reach the Arab Champions League final once.
