The Suns signed sharpshooter Kennard to a two-year, $13 million contract, with the second year being a player option.

The Phoenix Suns announced Tuesday that they have officially signed free agent Luke Kennard to a two-year, $13 million contract, with a player option for the second season.

Kennard played for the Hawks and Lakers last season, leading the league in three-point shooting percentage at 47.8%. Next season, he will team up with Colin Gillespie to provide the Suns with consistent three-point firepower, while also filling the perimeter void left by Grayson Allen's trade to the Charlotte Hornets.

Gillespie made a total of 232 three-pointers last season and was considered one of the Suns' most reliable outside scoring options. In June of this year, he signed a four-year, $48 million contract extension with the Suns.

Regarding Kennard's arrival, Suns General Manager Brian Gregory stated in an official statement: "Luke's professionalism and continued dedication to his skills make him one of the most efficient three-point shooters in NBA history. His excellent spacing, high basketball IQ, and playmaking ability bring a new dimension to our offense. We are delighted to welcome Luke and his family to Phoenix."

The official confirmation also stated that Kennard will wear jersey number 8 for the Suns.

After settling in Phoenix, 30-year-old Kennard will be entering his tenth NBA season. As the 12th overall pick in the 2017 draft, Kennard has played for the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Atlanta Hawks, and Los Angeles Lakers. To date, he has played 538 regular season games, averaging 9.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 23.1 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 46.6% and a three-point percentage of 44.2%.

Kennard also played 38 playoff games, averaging 8.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 22.8 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 48.5% and a three-point percentage of 45.0%.
