Rasmus Hoylen has been officially bought out and joined Napoli.
Italian Serie A club Napoli has officially activated the buy-out clause to permanently sign striker Rasmus Hoylen from Manchester United.
Italian Serie A club Napoli has officially activated the buy-out clause to permanently sign striker Rasmus Hoylen from Manchester United.
Last season, Hoylen was on loan at Napoli, but the club's successful qualification for the Champions League automatically triggered the permanent transfer clause. The total value of the deal was £43.2 million (including last season's loan fee), while the permanent buy-out portion was worth approximately £38 million.
Hoylen joined Manchester United from Atalanta in 2023 for £72 million, making 95 appearances and scoring 26 goals in three years. Last summer, he was loaned to Serie A following the arrival of Sesco.
It is understood that Manchester United will use the £38 million from the sale of Hoylen to pay the initial £35 million transfer fee for signing Atalanta Brazilian midfielder Ederson.
This marks the beginning of Manchester United's major summer clear-out. Casemiro, Tyrrell Malasia, and Jadon Sancho will all leave on free transfers.
Manchester United are also open to selling midfielder Manuel Ugarte and expect Italian clubs to be interested in Joshua Zirkzee and Turkish clubs to be interested in backup goalkeeper Altai Baindel.
In addition, Manchester United are actively pursuing the departures of Marcus Rashford and Andre Onana. Rashford was on loan at Barcelona last season, and the club has the option to buy him for £26 million before June 15.
Goalkeeper Onana, who was loaned to Trabzonspor last season, has been explicitly told that he is not in manager Michael Carrick's plans for next season.
