Werder Bremen announced on Tuesday the formal signing of Spanish attacking midfielder Iván San José Cantalejo from Real Valladolid. Cantalejo joined as a free agent, with a contract expected to run until June 30, 2030.

The 22-year-old Chucchi came through the Valladolid youth academy and made his first-team debut in the Copa del Rey on November 1, 2023. To date, he has made 55 appearances for Valladolid, scoring 9 goals and providing 9 assists.

With his outstanding on-field performance and an expiring contract, Chucke became a highly sought-after target in this summer's transfer market. Before joining Werder Bremen, he was linked with several clubs, including Stuttgart, RB Leipzig, Hoffenheim, Hamburg, Schalke 04, Como, Juventus, and Roma.

Regarding the transfer, Werder Bremen executive Peter Niemeyer commented: "Chuchi is a very promising player who has accumulated a wealth of experience in La Liga and Segunda División at a young age. He is a highly promising attacking midfielder. We hope to help him fully realize his potential at Bremen."

Werder Bremen coach Daniel Tiune added: "We are very pleased to have brought Chuki to Werder Bremen. He is an excellent player. He mainly plays as an attacking midfielder, but he can also play as a winger. He has been very efficient in the Segunda División this season, playing 34 games and contributing to 15 goals. I believe his ability will be helpful to us."

Chow himself said: "I am very happy and convinced that Werder Bremen is the best club for me and the right step in my career. I am very grateful for the club's trust in me and hope to help the club develop further."

"Joining Werder Bremen was a well-thought-out decision. Leaving Real Valladolid, the club of my life, was difficult because I grew up there. I will always be grateful to them."
